Audio-visual installation based on projection equipment consists of a large number of complex devices, but in fact the only visible component of the system is screen. Its quality and degree of compliance with the tasks are largely determined by the final quality of the image, so the selection of the screen needs to be as serious as the selection of the projector and other components of the system.

In accordance with the purpose of the design system, the most appropriate type of screen shall be determined. For example, multimedia projector screens used in small spaces and screens for powerful projectors installed in conference rooms and digital cinemas distinguish not only size and price but also design. For an office negotiating room or classroom, motorized or spring-loaded roll screens, as well as hand or frame-type portable screens that can be quickly assembled and moved from one room to another, are common. For large spaces, conference rooms and digital cinemas, stationary circuit screens are the most commonly used, and when the space is multifunctional and the screen is used only for limited time, the most convenient solution is a roller screen with a motorized transmission. Installations in public places, exhibitions, shopping centres, stations or airports usually use frame screens or screenwalls to be commissioned for a specific design.

Quality of screens

Regardless of the type of screen, its design shall ensure the maximum equilibrium of tension. With the use of a quality polythane that is not prone to obscuration and diffusion, the screen will not last one year. In doing so, if you choose the quality of the projector, you need to be prepared for the price not to be low. Any modern, sufficiently high-technology and difficult production, which is appropriately reflected in its price and the total cost of the screen.

Depending on the scope of application, screens may have special features. In addition to the usual white screens, there are gray, increased contrasting images, lighting, brightening, perforated, allowing the installation of acoustic systems directly behind the screen, as well as special layers for 3D projection and illuminated floors for which the projector has to be placed behind the screen.
